As you know, palinka is the one and only tradiotional fruit spirit of Hungary. In the UK many of us call palinka as ‘brandy’, ‘fruit brandy’. Palinka is made from 100% fruit, and contains no additional ingredients or sweeteners. But there is a way, you can make palinka more interesting if it is too strong for you. Use honey! We did the same, that’s why Szicsek Distillery developed its honey product family, the Szicsek Premium Liqueurs. From now you can buy the new ‘Szicsek Premium Liqueurs’ in the UK too, and you can choose from five different liqueurs.
But what is the difference between palinka and the honey liqueurs?
Well, in Hungary people say: Palinka is a medicine in a small portion. Yes, it is true. Palinka is a great aperitif before meals, and a brilliant digestive after a very rich meal. It helps digestion, relieves stomach upset, attenuates mild headaches, improves blood circulation, and – as you know it very well – improves your mood as well. Palinka is very fruity and tasty, but it is a fact, that it can be too strong for many people. An average palinka has a 44-50% alcohol content. If it is too much for you, choose from our Premium Liqueurs. The basis of these liqueurs is always some Szicsek Premium Palinka. We add natural honey, and sometimes cinnamon to the palinka. You can imagine how tasty can be an apple or plum palinka with some sweety honey and a touch of cinnamon. The result is: a much more milder and softer drink, which contains “only” 34% alcohol and it is sweeter than the traditional palinka.
